5 sticker pitfalls and how to avoid them
Our stickers are amazing but even the best products can be wasted if they are not used correctly. Read on to discover the most common and easily avoidable sticker pitfalls.
Choose the right size
Getting the right sized wall sticker makes all the difference. If you get a sticker that is too big for your space it can dwarf other elements of your interior or get it too small and it will just look out of place. Fortunately the standard sizes of our stickers are created with the average home environment in mind. However this won’t always be enough, which is why we offer customisation on all of our products over here. This is perfect for when you need those extra few inches to fill a space or need to trim down a design to squeeze it into a smaller location.
Choose the right colour
All of our stickers look great by themselves, however if you get a sticker in the wrong colour it can ruin the look of your room. Getting your sticker in a colour that fits the colour scheme of your room is a great way of ensuring that it looks great and gives a complete look. You can chose to pick out a detail colour with your sticker or stay with neutral colours to ensure that it will work with most spaces. Sometimes it can be hard to know exactly what colour will work best in your space, for example if you don’t know which of our 5 red colours would work best. This is why we provide sample packs that give you a test of 8 different colours of your choice so you can see what the colours are like and also get a feel for the high quality material that we use.
Plan your positioning
To really get the most out of your sticker it is best to consider your placement. Firstly centring a sticker on a wall is a fairly safe bet for an aesthetically pleasing look. However the position of furniture also has to be considered, aligning with a sofa or other significant piece of furniture also works well. It is also worth having a spirit level with you when you install stickers; some are more forgiving than others with this but it is always best to get your sticker on the wall as straight as you can.
Think holistic design
Slapping any old sticker on your wall without prior forethought will likely have poor results. It is important to consider the whole design of a room when choosing a sticker. This incorporates the size, colour and position of your sticker and it is the art of making sure that all work together to fit the desired look of your space. Important things to consider are the textures in the room and the amount and location of white space on your walls. Too much empty space can make a room look stark and empty whereas too little can produce a cluttered feel. This is particularly relevant when placing stickers that have multiple elements in them.
Install it correctly
There are a few important things to consider during your installation process. For example it is not advised to install a sticker anywhere that it is regularly exposed to large temperature changes as this can weaken the adhesive, for example directly above a radiator that is on an external wall. We also recommend that you do not install stickers within 6 weeks of painting your wall, as this makes them more likely to peel.
If you want further instructions on installation we have more info and a video to make things really easy over here.
